There's nothing quite like live music and the Sierra Vista Community Chorus is bringing it to Cochise County with their spring concert.

The Road Back to Music

It's been a rough road for the Sierra Vista Community Chorus over the last few years, long-time member Cathie Woodruff says of the long running, all volunteer choir. In 2020, the Covid lockdowns forced everyone into a year and half long hiatus.

Fate struck a second blow when they lost Sharon Keene, the group's director for more than 20 years, when she died of cancer. During that time, many long-time chorus members were also forced to drop out due to health issues.

These factors brought the continued existence of the group into question, until Roger Bayes stepped in. Roger Bayes was the principal conductor of the Sierra Vista Symphony for 20 years. When he picked up the baton for the Sierra Vista Community Chorus, hope was restored.

Bayes, says, "Andrew Lloyd Webber and Disney Studios have made an indelible imprint of American Music. Some of the most recognizable and singable tunes in our culture today have come from these two sources."

The choir will highlight several favorites, including "When You Wish Upon a Star", "All I Ask of You", and "God Bless the USA".
