Surprise! These 2 Arizona Cities Rated High for “Most Caring” In the U.S.!
I've traveled all over the world, so believe me when I say, there's no place quite like Arizona. We have warmth and friendliness here that you just don't find everywhere.
When WalletHub released its list of the Most Caring Cities in America, I was pleased to see four of our cities listed, two in the top 10! I'm not surprised, but it's exciting to see Arizona get this kind of recognition.
How Did Arizona Land TWO Cities in the Top 5?
To determine the rankings for the most caring cities in America, WalletHub compared the 100 most populous cities across the nation and rated them on three key metrics.

They drilled down further, analyzing the towns across 38 metrics. When the dust settled, Scottsdale and Gilbert ranked among the top 5 most compassionate communities in the country. Honestly, it tracks. According to the study, Scottsdale ranked 3rd and Gilbert ranked 4th overall.
It's no surprise that Arizona residents are kind and generous, which is why these two cities weren't the only ones in our state to make the list.

Which Other Arizona Cities Made the List?
But what about my city, you might be asking. Arizona didn’t just grab two spots; several more cities earned spots in the top 100:
- Chandler was ranked 17th
- Mesa came in at 26th
- Phoenix landed the 43rd spot
- Glendale sits at 63rd
- Tucson is 79th
Why Were These Cities Chosen?
WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across 38 metrics that measure how communities show up for one another. Those metrics fall into three big buckets:
- Caring for the Community, they looked at the number of volunteer hours, charitable giving, and neighborly acts
- Caring for the Vulnerable analyzed adoption rates, child poverty levels, and support for the homeless
- Caring in the Workforce was determined by the number of residents working in helping professions like teaching, social work, and healthcare
