Tim Ash first vice president of the Greater Huachuca Branch NAACP, stopped by to invite Sierra vista and surrounding communities to The Annual Doctor Martin Luther King celebration, March and Parade The event is Monday January 16th starting at 10:00 o'clock at veterans Memorial Park. The Greater Huachuca Branch NAACP is returning as one of the major sponsors of the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration. The theme for this year is “It starts with me, building a better community.”

The celebration includes a colorful parade and March, entertainment, merchandize, great food vendors and a full program of speeches and musicians. Ash had some exciting news for this year, “The event will have someone who attended the original March when Doctor King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech." He continued, “We'll play the “I Have a Dream” speech and we'll get to hear from someone who participated.”

Ash told us about more about the past events and this year's event; “We did celebrate in the park a couple years ago but due to COVID we put it off. This year, entertainment, speeches, and food. We'll be doing health screening and several other organizational events as well.” The celebration is at Veterans Memorial Park in Sierra Vista, Monday January 16th starting at 10:00 o'clock

The parade starts at the North entrance of Veterans Memorial Park at MLK Jr. Parkway.

Join our community as we celebrate the life and legacy of Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. and strive for positive social change. We hope to see you there.
